BMO Capital Markets, the investment and corporate banking arm of BMO Financial Group (NYSE:BMO)(TSX:BMO), announced today that its Equity Through Education trading day raised C$1.6 million to go toward scholarships for youth.

The donation marks the 10th anniversary of the program, which each year sees BMO Capital Markets donate a day of institutional equity trading commissions from the United States, Canada and Europe to charities whose goal it is to provide greater access to education for less advantaged students through scholarships, bursaries and other programs.

"It was a great day," said Eric Tripp, President, BMO Capital Markets, who marked the day by opening the Toronto Stock Exchange on Sept. 24. "We are so proud of this program that has raised $15 million over the past 10 years. Equity Through Education fuels tangible action with observable results and is critical to our support of a diverse workforce."

Since it was launched in 2005, Equity Through Education has assisted more than 2,500 individuals. This year, the proceeds from the BMO Capital Markets Equity Through Education trading day will go to 10 charities, including:
