TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Nov. 28, 2014) - BMO InvestorLine has been named Best Online Brokerage for the second year in a row at the 20th annual Morningstar Awards, which took place in Toronto on Wednesday evening. Further, the firm announced that The Globe and Mail has named BMO InvestorLine the top bank-owned online brokerage firm in Canada for the fourth consecutive year in its 16th annual ranking of online brokers.
The Morningstar Awards selected BMO InvestorLine based on the quality of the website, the outstanding level of customer service and the costs of the service. The Globe and Mail survey ranked BMO InvestorLine by cost, account reporting, account maintenance, the investing experience, tools, innovation and design.
"We're delighted to be recognized by Morningstar and The Globe and Mail, both industry leaders in their respective spaces, for our efforts in providing Canadians with a superior online investing experience," said Julie Barker-Merz, President, BMO InvestorLine. "These acknowledgements validate our team's ability to anticipate and exceed the needs of our clients as we continue to provide them with the tools and resources necessary to help them make better investing decisions."
Ms. Barker-Merz noted that it has been an exceptional year for BMO InvestorLine; the firm continues to focus on opening up online investing to more Canadians and making enhancements to its industry leading research and tools. Recently, BMO InvestorLine announced pricing changes to its adviceDirect service to help make the pioneering service more accessible to Canadians. Further, it introduced multiple offerings for its Self-Directed service, including enhancements to its 5 Star program, a $9.95 flat trading fee, Traditional and Simplified Chinese-language websites and an incentive offer for young Canadians designed to encourage them to begin investing sooner.
The Morningstar and The Globe and Mail recognitions come a week after Surviscor ranked BMO InvestorLine as the top firm for online discount brokerage services in Canada as a part of its 2014 Online Discount Brokerage scorCard Review.
