BMO Capital Markets Wins IFR's 2014 Mid-Market Equity House of the Year Award

TORONTO, ONTARIO and NEW YORK, NEW YORK--(Marketwired - Jan. 8, 2015) - BMO Capital Markets, the investment and corporate banking arm of BMO Financial Group (NYSE:BMO)(TSX:BMO), has been named US Mid-Market Equity House of the Year for 2014 by International Financing Review.

International Financing Review (IFR), a weekly magazine affiliated with Thomson Reuters and regarded as a leading source of news, views and opinion covering the capital markets, recognizes global investment banks each year for distinguished achievement in markets that include the US, Canada, Europe, Latin America and Asia.

"We are honored to be acknowledged by IFR for our preeminent equity capital markets advice and execution, and we will remain intensely focused on continuing to serve our clients," said Michael Cippoletti, Head of US Equity Capital Markets, BMO Capital Markets.

The award is a first for BMO and comes as the bank completed 38 bookrun Equity Capital Markets deals during the IFR awards period, up 155 per cent over the same period a year ago.

IFR's senior editorial team reviewed and selected BMO's award entry based on a number of criteria including how BMO progressed over the course of the year; what strategic goals have been met; and how BMO achieved and adapted to trends that drove market activity during the year. In addition, BMO was recognized for its noteworthy deal roster, in terms of deal size, geographical and/or sector diversification and degree of innovation.

"As the winner of our US Mid-Market Equity House of the Year award, the US arm of BMO Capital Markets has seen tremendous momentum across its entire platform which has led to significant market share gains in their equity capital markets division," said Stephen Lacy, US Editor for IFR.

"This is the first time BMO has won this prestigious award. It's a validation of the outstanding performance and ongoing commitment of our Equity Capital Markets, Equity Sales, Trading and Research, and Investment & Corporate Banking industry and Financial Sponsor coverage groups on behalf of our clients," said Peter Myers, Head of US Investment & Corporate Banking.

BMO will be presented with the award at the IFR Americas Awards ceremony on January 28, 2015 at the Thomson Reuters Building in Times Square in New York.
