BMO Announces $25,000 Donation, as well as Relief Options for Customers, to Support Communities Affected by the Floods in New Brunswick
TORONTO, May 4, 2018 /CNW/ - BMO Financial Group today announced a $25,000 donation to the Canadian Red Cross to support communities affected by the floods in New Brunswick.
New Brunswick has not experienced flooding to this magnitude for over 80 years and damages are expected to be extensive. With more rain and warm weather ahead, officials are warning that the situation will get worse.
"We are saddened by the devastation caused by the flooding in New Brunswick. We understand those affected are living with uncertainty and we're here to help during this difficult time," said Lynda Taylor, Senior Vice President for the Atlantic Provinces. "Our thoughts are for the safety, security and well-being of everyone who has been affected, and our most sincere thanks go out to all of the first responders and volunteers who are working to ensure the safety of those living in affected communities."
In addition to this donation, BMO, which has 22 branches and approximately 250 employees in New Brunswick, is supporting its customers in a variety of ways:
- Deferral of personal loan and mortgage payments (principal + interest) for three months
- Deferral of personal credit card payments for three months (Please note this option will not prevent interest from accruing)
- Special accommodations for BMO Small Business and Business Banking clients
- Fast tracking of Creditor Insurance claims through the elimination of certain requirements and reduction of waiting periods
Starting Monday, any employee or customer wishing to make a donation will be able to do so at all our Canadian branches.
