Media Advisory - BMO to Ring TMX Closing Bell on Sept 25th to Celebrate 20th Year of Promoting Equity Through Education
  • BMO trading floors in Toronto, New York and London – joined by BMO Wealth Management – donate commissions from the day's equity and ETF trades to providing financial aid to students in Canada, the US and the UK

TORONTO, Sept. 19, 2024 /CNW/ - Join BMO employees from BMO Capital Markets and BMO Wealth Management on September 25th to celebrate the 20th annual Equity Through Education (ETE) Trading day by ringing the TMX closing bell at 120 Adelaide Street West in Toronto.

Each year, BMO donates all North American and European institutional equity commissions from one day of trading to select charitable organizations helping diverse, bright, deserving students in support of their post-secondary educational ambitions. Joining the program this year is BMO InvestorLine, part of BMO Wealth Management, to donate equity & ETF trading commissions earned from the September 25th trading day. Since inception, almost C$32 million has been donated to help more than 5,500 students achieve their potential through scholarships, bursaries, mentoring and leadership development. 

Ringing the closing bell will be John Mitrano (Co-Head of BMO Global Equities, BMO Capital Markets), Deland Kamanga (Group Head, BMO Wealth Management), Camilla Sutton (Head of Equity Research Canada & UK, BMO Capital Markets) and Rizwan Awan (Head of TMX Markets, Products and Services and President, Equity Trading, TMX Group). They will be joined by Equity Through Education Scholars.

Equity Through Education partners include The Jackie Robinson Foundation, Imperial College London, Indspire, Lime Connect, the Loran Scholars Foundation, The Children's Aid Foundation of Canada, the Financial Women's Association (FWA), The Brokerage, VersaFi, and SEO (Sponsors for Educational Opportunity).
